This is an outstanding example of the early open-mouth Tete Jumeau circa 1890. She has a bisque socket head, large blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark painted lashes and brows, rose blushed eye shadow, open mouth, shaded lips, row of porcelain teeth and pierced ears. She wears her brunette hand-tied human hair wig, which appears to be original as it has all the characteristics of those produced by Jumeau. Her cork pate is intact. She has a French composition and wooden fully-jointed body. This lovely bebe is beautifully costumed in silk and lace made for her by a talented European dress designer. Her silk hat resembles the Russian kokoshnik style and is a perfect complement.
Marks: Tete Jumeau (red stamp) 10. Body unmarked but obviously Jumeau.
Excellent condition, her bisque is without flaw or restoration. Her original body has its original body finish, minor flaking on palm side of right hand has been gently touched up. She has all of the expressiveness and presence of the Jumeau bebes without the high price of her closed-mouth sisters.
Emile Jumeau, circa 1890.
